Tom bick please don't be put off posting your findings. There are people interested in what you are doing. If need be start a thread of your own. I for one would like to read it.

Cheers I have considered a thread on this subject a number of times and perhaps one day I will but to me it’s a simple system that works for me and my bees and just don’t have the time or energy to defend it over the blinkered amongst us.

Constructive criticism is fine but some people are like a dog with a bone.

I think it might be a good time to start a thread - after sharpening his razor on me for the last couple of days he's probably said all that needs to be said ... I for one would be very interested ~ although to avoid attracting attention and to make life a little easier I might just read and avoid public comment ....

Go on.....I need to make some decisions about next year, maybe it will help!

I see where you're going Tom, but I'd be interested (even though I probably will stick to foundation)
To save hassle, expense and faffing all my bait hives are set up with wired frames and starter strips. The ones that were occupied and stayed are now in standard national hives and everyone who has been with me on inspections have commented on how tidy and 'normal' these free comb frames look. Even I have to check for the drill holes in the sides to locate the non foundation frames. But shortly I'm sure I'll be berated for being a luddite whose still living in the middle ages and throwing my 'profits' away :D

I will start one tonight after a day crawling on my hands and knees fitting an oak floor at Eaton Terrace and after that I will need a long session in the chair as I pour wine into my poor knees.

Glad you changed your mind tom. I look forward to reading it.

Yeah! Let them keep them their faith!

Blessed are two hive owners hearts that can bend; they shall never be broken.

I think this place just won’t allow for commonsence debate any more and perhaps pm’s are the only way forward.

I agree with you, Tom, and using pm's sounds like a good idea, i can see a simple system that would work really well, with no hassle for anyone, using pm's.

Yeah great, unfortunately this is supposed to be a forum. If we all revert to PM's we might as well shut up shop. we all know the answer but noone's willing to bite the bullet (and I don't really blame them as whatever happens someone will take the opposite view.)

:iagree:
I'd rather discuss the subject properly especially as a number have expressed their interest.
For those who are not interested or consider it foolish, simply stay out of the discussion. If this is impossible, those in the discussion do not have to reply and can look upon it as background noise.

I do agree, but it just won't happen this way, ever.

Maybe a system where someone does an original post, which is then locked straight away (if they wish for it to be) and all questions, views ,ect are carried out via pm, then the poster can answer any serious/sensible posts and simply ignore those they choose to.

why not put a stop to the ones that cause the problem instead of everyone else having to put up with the consequences of the minority.
If it has to go to pm's then this forum might as well shut, something I dont want to see happen!
If they start their nonsense in a thread stop them posting in that thread.

You mean much, much, stricter moderation, by myself and Admin, now there's an idea.

If certain posters play up and start trashing threads then just stop them posting in that one thread they will soon get the message.
It comes to something when someone doesnt want to start a post because of what some one else will/may say then yes it is time for something to be done.

Yes, we could give that a go, deleting their posts, or moving them to some Albania like backwater of mediocrity, a rubbish bin.

Personally i prefer the Beesource approach, leave the post box, but delete all the content.
