I suspect Poot knows this and has posted an illustration of how the beekeeping suppliers are justifying removing Oxalic from salethis isn't news - it's been common knowledge for over a year, and discussed ad nauseum on here
I bought some off a guy on the corner.Struth. Wide open for a black market, then.
White powder being sold from the boot of a car, anyone?
Superlative turns of phrase there !this isn't news - it's been common knowledge for over a year, and discussed ad nauseum on here - it was only when they reinforced parts of the act a couple of years ago that it became an issue and the reason is simple - lazy legislators, instead of creating a new law to cover precursors (not necessarily poisonous) just tacked it onto the poisons act.
Remember when they banned sodium chlorate weedkiller? that wasn't on the poisons list, but it was because it was a popular ingredient in home made bombs way back in the day.
The precursors list goes back decades but was used more to monitor illegal drug manufacture way back when. Even caffeine powder crept on to the list when it became a popular cutting agent for cocaine.
I remember a bodybuilder a colleague intercepted on his return from a 'smoke and poke' weekend in Amsterdam having his chocolate starfish closely scrutinised as he had taken advantage of the availability of cheap caffeine out there and bought home a kilo of (perfectly 'legitimate') caffeine which he used as part of his muscle bulging diet.
MmmmI bought some off a guy on the corner.
My Bees went crazy for three days.
I tried it didn't sleep for a week and could not stop dancing.
I can put you in touch with someone who can slip you a portion in a rural carparkMmmm
Sounds like I could do with some of that
I think you will find it isn't freely available on ebay or Amazon these days.. it is available on line with no questions asked from some suppliers but you will need a google search and a bit of persistence as some sites wait until you get to the payment screen and then ask you for your licence details. The price has soared though -- what used to be a fiver a kilo is now £13 a kilo + delivery. All the suppliers have this information displayed on their site of late. However still freely available on eBay...
jeez - that really is profiteeringOxalic Acid Crystals for sale at E18.99 for 500g...
Not as much as €16.50 for 35g of Api Bioxaljeez - that really is profiteering
With the suppliers being given the squeeze, and at that sort of price, its going to make it look more attractive to get a license for plain old OAAhhhh!! Used get mine from firm in NI..Identify as Beek and no issue... Notice Sign on website no longer possible to supply... BUT in same search noted a hardware store over this way with Oxalic Acid Crystals for sale at E18.99 for 500g... There was a note referring to how handy it was to Beeks for Varroa treatment... Odd that. Can I take it 'Crystals' are the same product as 'Powder'... if so will replenish as its not beyond reason that its sale will be curtailed here as well.

fairly easy - just an online application, you need a countersignatory, proof of address and identity.I wonder how difficult it is to do so, and if there is a suitably-qualified individual who might manage the process were it to be crowd-funded by beekeepers?
