this isn't news - it's been common knowledge for over a year, and discussed ad nauseum on here - it was only when they reinforced parts of the act a couple of years ago that it became an issue and the reason is simple - lazy legislators, instead of creating a new law to cover precursors (not necessarily poisonous) just tacked it onto the poisons act.
Remember when they banned sodium chlorate weedkiller? that wasn't on the poisons list, but it was because it was a popular ingredient in home made bombs way back in the day.
The precursors list goes back decades but was used more to monitor illegal drug manufacture way back when. Even caffeine powder crept on to the list when it became a popular cutting agent for cocaine.
I remember a bodybuilder a colleague intercepted on his return from a 'smoke and poke' weekend in Amsterdam having his chocolate starfish closely scrutinised as he had taken advantage of the availability of cheap caffeine out there and bought home a kilo of (perfectly 'legitimate') caffeine which he used as part of his muscle bulging diet.

All the suppliers have this information displayed on their site of late. However still freely available on eBay...

I suspect Poot knows this and has posted an illustration of how the beekeeping suppliers are justifying removing Oxalic from sale

Unfortunately, whether we like it or not, they cannot carry on selling it as they have now been told exactly what their legislative obligations are, of course, this could have been nipped in the bud years ago as I'm sure some were aware.
It's a great pity we don't have a national representative body to fight our corner over important matters such as this..............

I think you will find it isn't freely available on ebay or Amazon these days.. it is available on line with no questions asked from some suppliers but you will need a google search and a bit of persistence as some sites wait until you get to the payment screen and then ask you for your licence details. The price has soared though -- what used to be a fiver a kilo is now £13 a kilo + delivery.
