Chatting to a bee farmer today and he was telling me about his recent problems. A couple of weeks before Christmas he was on his way to a Farmers' Market and his truck skidded on black ice and overturned. A large number of honey jars in boxes were broken and even the unbroken ones did not escape completely as many were covered in runny honey. He was able to save these and re-bottled them and the broken set honey he scraped up and is going to feed back to his bees. Fortunately, his truck only needed a new wing mirror as it was pretty battered to begin with so the new dents suffered in the crash blended in well with the ones that were already there.

After this little setback a week later after another Farmers' Market he was robbed at knife point and lost his entires day's takings.

Then a few days after Christmas he went down with a bug and was laid up for a week.

Compared to that my Christmas was idylic.
