Like Christmas - but in July. MAISEMORE order ‘finally’ arrived. I should have ordered the langstroth foundation separately but didn’t think so probably a waste of time filling a couple of supers now but you never know. The rest were replacement floors and roofs as I’ve got a few old and dodgy ones, along with some poly bits and 5 more nucs to make up the pallet, and a load of ekes for feeders / fondant as they were cheap.

Hadn't inspected for just over two weeks due to the hot weather. Very excited to go in today
Bluebell last years home grown queen had a capped full super.
Blossom this years home made queen had a few capped frames
Daisy this year's home made queen nothing as been problematic
Rosie the golden girl a super and some ,14 frames 31 altogether.
Extracted for quite a few hours, the bucket we filter into is full to the brim, first time ever. We had to leave quite a bit in the extractor waiting for us to jar what's in the bucket
But....... in the process of taking out frames from our golden girl decided to sting my right thumb, and boy did it hurt. Had ice on my hand all evening, throbbing and very very swollen😪 🐝🐝🐝🐝

Due to pressure from customers I decided I'd better extract a few supers before I take 3 granddaughters on hols next week.
Took 10 supers off for extraction from 2 sites as those were what the customers were asking for. I was pleased with 265lb from the 10.

Just had a couple of supers to sort. All lovely capped frames. Stan sorted two out for cut comb. Came to cut the comb....wires!!!!!! that's another thing as well as the spinner he's banned form.
Leaving the rest till I get back from visiting daughter in Berlin
Bluebell
Blossom
Daisy
Rosie
I like to name mine but I'm running out of imagination. The last two swarms are Rooftop and July Fly.

Bad side of q rearing in summer.. is.. it is damn hot.. At the moment is 32c in shade, allegedly it will be 38c in shade today.. All is so sad to watch, plants and animals also cope hard.. Our once huge forests.. are cut down and a lot exported as firewood.. As result we are losing water and soon will have Sahara.. Human is such a mean beast, we don't deserve to live.. Our greed will massacrate everything..

It sounds awfully hot there. A shame about the forests. It's been quite cold here lately.

Plitvice is one of the most beautiful places on the planet ... the waterfalls are spectacular and the trails through the forest provide stunning views and and shade in the summer - I spent some days camping on the edge of the forest when the coastal area just got unbearably hot. In those days it was not a protected national park and there were very few facilities but I understand that it has now been developed ... it should be a world heritage site. I dread to think what will happen if the climate continues to warm. It's very sad that your unprotected forest areas are being cut down ...

Even if at the moment we can slow down downfall of our civilization it won't happen.. If I am greed and I rule directly or indirectly nothing will change. In fact every common sense will be called traitor or heretic and I won't be surprised the " witches" will be burned again.. and masses will clap in frantic joy..

if you ve not watch it , do it

Did the basic assessment, now to wait for results and spoke to the secretary of the local BKA as he was there too, nice to chat. Lovely docile bees. I got a bit nervous and had a couple of gaps in my knowledge for the questions which I really should have remembered.

Collected some supers and took attempt four at retrieving a couple from one hive which won't clear down. Double clearing board setup now in place with an extra eke. Here's hoping as I want to move them to the heather asap.

Six mostly full supers at home ready to extract.

Shot taken to side of face as I (again) forgot to zip up my veil. A bit puffy. Unlike the one on my palm yesterday which didn't do anything! Might have another contact for a contract too.

Tomorrow: removing the garden colony from the tree. Somehow. A pulley system will be involved...

Moments ago light rain has fallen for about 20 minutes.. Somebody is joking.. Well, at least it won't be 38C, maybe it will be 32-34C - today.. For tomorrow, not so sure..

Very poor grafting results from the hot weather😉 and 2 II Buckfast introduced and eggs present😁3C624EF4-B898-4286-8236-E5189607BD9D.jpegA5BCF12F-36E5-4F6E-9460-F6953CF1C5B5.jpeg

Just a warning in this very dry weather. Yesterday my smoker needed a top up. Opened it up and immediately it burst into flame shooting out. I was shocked but just put lid back on. Could have been different if the shock made me drop it or throw it, and if I was in a dry field
