can you tell me how often do I need to feed if short of stores

Depends on the feeder and how much they need (ie size of colony and brood space)and the weather forecast.
A rapid feeder will have to be refilled daily a miller type much less often

Until they have 2 frames of stores, if they are starving then open hive spray 1:1 syrup and then trickle down frames

as per redwood - you need a buffer of stores within the hive in case of a prolonged period of bad weather.
