I think it's time to lock this one up and we look forward to Steve's input to the forum :).

Nah, he'll be too busy as admin on the new site... :)

Swarm Collectors Map Album

I have taken a couple of snapshots of the swarm collectors map, the first showing the map itself, and the second how it looks after a member of the public has keyed in their postcode. They are in a album on this forum called, imaginatively, Swarm Collectors Map.

I know they show the links at the top but I defy you to read them so I think I'm OK:)

Yeah, right. I am all for posting details so the scum of this earth can manipulate your private life. Report a swarm and while you are gone make a visit. THEY can find your name, addy, or whatever and need no encouragement. It happens now on the world-wide chat (twits and face pages) that the crims can predict when the poor unsuspecting souls are on holiday etc.

Its a poor place when people have nothing more important to do than search the web for details about people so that they can re-publish them in even more public places...

In the immortal words of Francis Urquart "You may say that but I cannot possibly comment."

Brill idea that man.
I took a look and found the user interface to be easy to navigate.
Lets all tell the main contacts where it is, police, local councils, BBKA and such like.

Hope I get a few calls this year. :)

I have spoken with Steve the original poster and it looks like his map could be of use to Beekeepers and members of the public who have a swarm problem.

I removed the links above in the thread but am happy for the web address to be posted on the forum.

Admin.

I hovered my mouse over my local area, and up popped the details of a good friend of mine.......... result!

Hi,

My thanks to Admin for his permission to post the link. The blurb explains the way the map works, and its objects.
Please take a minute to look, specially if you want to be a swarm collector or have been listed as one. Please let me know if you want to be on the map, want to be removed, or want to change your details.
Information about the map and an easy email link is at:
http://swarmcollectorsmap.blogspot.com
the map itself is at:
www.bees.co.uk/swarmmap

I welcome suggestions and comments on this approach.

Many Thanks

Steve

May be the number of beekeepers on the list in that area.

as there is a key on the map with colours and numbers?

I think the green is for beekeepers that have not yet put there information on the map but steve has noted down there location.

And we all lived happily ever after ahhhhhh.

The End

Yes it just tells me the reply staus of people - I'll get rid of it...
In the longer term I want it to show status like "Charges to collect" or "only available at weekends"
