Honey bees attacking call birds

A friend who is a 'casual beekeeper' and farm worker has had a 'call bird' in a trap due to magpie problems.
The trap is a few feet away from his beehives.
On checking it today he found the bees have attacked the call bird so much that it was almost dead and he had to put it out if it's misery.
Has anyone come across this before?

Do you mean another magpie?
Sorry can’t help with other instances but people are reporting bad tempered bees everywhere.
Maybe just play an audio ?

The call bird is used to entice the magpie into the trap. Not sure what type it is.
There certainly are some bees not happy at the moment!

you can use another crow or magpie in a Larsen trap... but follow the best practice guidelines! the bird to be caught (crow or magpie) reacts to the caged interloper in their territory... to use any other type of bird as 'bait' is strictly illegal...

Cool thanks wasnt judging just making you aware if the trap was on your land? for info we trap crows but for nature conservation reasons only not game rearing.
