While sitting having my lunch today i looked out of the window and the scottish version of the RSPCA van pulled up outside.
I thought maybe there on the cadge collecting money or something.
I thought there not here for the dog i treat him like a son ( sad I know)
There not here for the ducks or chickens there fed and wartered every day and have a nice house to live in.

There not here for the bees they dont do bees

anyway a lady knocked on the door and asked for me by name
i said yes thats me!

We have had a complaint she said clutching 3 jiffy bags in her hand
"There the queens i posted out this morning"

Well the local post office in the wisdom had desided i was being cruel to amimals trying to post bees in the post as the jiffybags had holes punched in them big stickers on there saying with care live bees in transit.

The silly sod in the post office wanted to release them to save them but desided to call the SPCSA insted kicked up such a fuss insisting the brought them back to me and give me a severe repremand

The tried to explain they were ok and the royalmail always transported bees in the post but the stupid bag insisted she had read all the rule on what could be sent by post and bees were definitly not on the list

So thank you post office wasted my time wasted my money on stamps.
they gave me back my queens had a cup of tea said everything was fine there would be no action and would call back at the post office and explain to them everything was ok.

I would not mind but i post queens most days at the same post office

How ridiculous.

About the most woeful tale of ignorance I have heard since a client of mine told me that he never had fleas on his dogs and cats as every so often he killed the queen flea on each one.

For information.

Kick the Sspca. Utter rubbish.

I have sent dozens of queens from Bucksburn post office in the outskirts of Aberdeen. Bernard sent hundreds that way.

I would get in touch with the SSPCA head office and discuss this with them to avoid this cropping up again.

Further I would write in the strongest terms to the post office and inform them they need to inform their subbies what is and is not allowed.

I sent a queen by post just last week BTW.

Cheers MM i going to print that page off and take it down to the post office
i am going to complain to the Head post master for the area if one exists!
But in the main i will be down there monday morning flipping my lid with them and demanding some thing i am not the sort to take this lying down and have no problem making a specticle of myself

Don't forget to insist on their actions adding stress to the queens plus the reputation of your business being damaged !
Lay it on thick 'Jobs worthies ' such as he soon begin to quake when challenged by a superior intellect :coolgleamA:

Love it! Go get them big boy! Thats what i would do, nail them to the wall.

I would also complain to the SPSCA that their personnel had lied to you in that she had said definitely checked the regulations and that bees were not allowed to be posted, with a copy of the regulations

your bees are in a correct travel cage and posted in accordance to current post office regulation and thoudands of bees are posted in similar packages every year ( even from New Zealand by Airmail)

and that you will not accpet anything else other than a written appology signed by a S€PSCA manager and the person who lied to you

and if the still stop the posting again that you will take out a harresment order against the lady

Might be an idea to take along a queen cage and show him / her what you are sending the bees in.

Hang on a minute...I read your post that the SPCA tried to explain to the muppet in the post office that bees could be sent and couldn't get past the muppet's ignorance.

I would only have a pop at the PO and ask them to tell you how they intend to avoid damaging your legitimate business in the future...I would expect them to run local training (perhaps inviting you to do it - the muppet seeing you turn up to train them could be priceless).

i read that as the SPSCA lady had read all the rules.....and bees were definelty not on the list! and she reprimpanded the sender and would not take it further

but know re reading it it may be the same as your interiptation

Why not get a few old frames/box's and make a fire with them after inviting the local BBC crew along to do a news slot.

Tell the BBC it has destroyed your business and you have had to pack up,It has worked for a certain beefarmer in the past :leaving:

Love the fire idea but in my nood i would do it in the middle of the post office

also thought of making up a flimsy box marking it with
LIVE KITTEN DO NOT CRUSH
just to wind them up

just starting to hear from customers the 20 queens posted on thurdays to a number of customers
have failed to be delivered

Lets hope this twit has not given them to the SPCSA. Do you use overnight special delivery?

A case for one of the suits at the BBKA picking this up and sorting it out. You can almost forgive the muppet at the Post Office who does not know his/her job, but as for the SPCA Officer ....

will be seeking legal advice monday

I breed Killifish.... a strange hobby I know, I get eggs and send eggs all over the world without any problem, my postie even rearranges her round so I am the first delivery... she is also thankfully a beekeeper, packages ( like queen bees) are labeled "live animals fragile"
I have yet to have had a problem with Post Office.

Definitely do not let this one go, and please let us know the result!
