Bees bringing in lots of black and pale yellow pollen this morning, which considering the lack of flowers about now makes me wonder on which plants they found it; any ideas?
Hmmmmm, don’t know anything that is black. Poppies & borage are dark grey. Pale yellow could be pumpkins/squash maybe?

It’s a bit late for pumpkin flowers, I would say the light yellow is ivy or even mustard, black pollen could be poppies

Mind you weird stuff is flowering here. I’ve got blossom on one of my apple trees and the persicaria is throwing up flower buds….. 😱

Not poppies, none to be seen now. Otherwise maybe propolis of some kind?
I did think that too 🙂 wishful thinking on the poppy front although walking some of the fields on the farm and there is clover still flowering both white and red, and the odd dandelion

Had a look arounf my place and found one Dandelion, Red Clover lots of, a few poppies, the odd buttercup, 2 strawberry blossoms, some Golden Rod starting to flower along with a few flowers that might be of interest to the girls. I have just one colony bringing lots of Pollen in that is more orangey than yellow and a nuc collecting small amounts of something greyish. When travelling up the road today I noticed some white flowers growing amongst ivy on stone walls and quite a few as if in season, which they are not. At this rate we will be reporting snowdrops.vlcsnap-2024-10-10-00h23m46s575.jpg
