I paint the outsides of my poly's before assembly.
Alway seem to forget to paint the ends!

 

[Millet]

For our poly hives (Mini-Plus) we paint the four sides, then fit them together while the paints still wet. This seems to add to the already tight fit and its glued solid by the paint. Easy really. a bit fiddly at first but you soon get a system going.
