With luck and some active "hive tool" work there is no reason why it should not be over 3k before the year end.

I hope that others actively promote it, for the benefit of all.

just to get back to the original topic,
i went to the convention on fri, sat and sun and had a realy good time.
attended some very good talks including:-
Honeybee viruses (Dr Declan Schroeder).
Queen rearing (Margaret thomas).
Bees and comunication.
Swarming.
Reading the comb.
Neonicotinoids (Dr Jullian little, from Bayer)
disease recognition seminar (Ian Homer)

Bought a gross of jars (saves on delivery!) and a few bits and pieces and met and talked to some very interesting people including Wally Shaw who writes in Beecraft.

so, it was thumbs up from me! :)

Have read the thread and would appreciate a simple summary. I was going to go to Stoneleigh this year but got the offer to get stranded in Belgium and do a crash course in avionic vulcanology (I was lucky and got home but too late for the show). My intentions for going were interest and some purchases.

So my question. Those of you who went, was it worth it, is the show improving / deteriorating, do I bother next year (erruptions permitting)?

I went, first time.
Was it worth it - yes definitely.

I only did Friday pm and Saturday. I really enjoyed some of the talks - Andy Willis in particular. I didn't go to any of the seminars or short courses, neither did I buy much equipment.

However, next year now that I have a feel for the event I'll plan in more detail and attend some of the more specialist courses.

One thing they need to address is the numbers on the Saturday meant that some of the lectures were full - and I mean quite a lot of people not seeing what they wanted. The venues are just not big enough.

Also, having to queue 25 mins to buy a sandwich is not good.
