The difficulty I have had isn't the lining up, rather its not knowing how many bees have come out at the feeder-board hole and are about to be squashed
When I change the fondant box or whatever I slide a piece of thin card over the hole (and under the feeder, or whatever I have covering the hole) change the boxes over, slowly slide the card out and then line up the holes - I know the English feeder is a bit bigger than a takeaway tub, but you could get a bigger bit of card.

Sounds like they're both usefull so I'll get one of each - maybe the 4 pint will do for spring feeding and then try the square one for autumn feeding with (hopefully) a bigger colony by then

yup - that's what i'd do
