Because killing varroa with chemicals give 100% better honey yield. That sounds really bad, but lets say that varroa resistant hives do 50% less honey.

So even if they dont have varroa you treat them anyway for incresed honey crop? You dont want resistant bees but quote from all the papers about scientists who are try to irradicate varroa.

Stupid and honest....a bad combination
I suppose so, but then I didnt just tell thousands of people that I keep a low profile because I dont want the tax man to know how much I am earning...:welcome:to the ******** club

Every hive has varroa when I treat them.
Once I bought mite reasistant bees (elgon) and they had as much mites as Italians.

I have scientic education in biology, and I know very well what scientists can do and what they write.

Scientists papers? - I have read them. They are promising nothing.

What is yours scientific backround Dishmop? How many years in university and what was your area?

Quite few countries have beekeeping research. Like in UK, looks like nothing.

After my previous post that got very heated and like to put it all behind. l

well Steve, do you think this one's got any better? It seems to be developing into another one of Finman dick comparing contest

You can't really expect to keep slagging all the poor little stupid amateurs without saying what you have to offer the world in the way of SIZE.

Awwwww, go on Finman, show us yours and we'll show you ours., I'll just nip out and take some photos.

If people are going to post photos hadn't Admin start password protecting this thread?

.My best hive has brought 70 kg honey in July. Main yield is just beginning.
.

15 kg honey from hive...That is mother of all beekeeping mantras.
.

.

Hmmm - let us all put our's on the table to compare - who has the biggest?
Shall we decide now whether we go for length or girth? Any volunteers for adjudicators?

Or, seeing the reluctance of Finny to answer a straight and reasonable question - should he change his name to STUMPY ? :D

I loose nothing from myself, what ever 2-hive owners in Uk think about me.
I am not here to pick scores. I am just telling that beekeeping in UK could rise to this millenium and forget those genetically isolated native tundra bees, which have been on isle since last Ice Ace.

My scientific background? None. University? None. We were expected to leave school and go to work.

As you say.. nobody has so far come up with how to solve the varroa problem, therefore why havent you made some contribution instead of just reading about it?
Your only concern is how much honey you can harvest.
You are not interested in finding a cure for varroa because resistant bees (according to what you quote from a paper) do not yield as much honey as those treated for varroa, and that is the only reason you treat them.
You have no answer to those people whose bees have not been treated and did not die because you treat yours anyway. In all probability you dont know. You are not prepared to not treat them in case your honey yield is reduced.
With your attitude towards honeybee health and survival I think the honeybee world would be better off without people like you, and you have the gall to criticise the scientists for achieving nothing.

And you are worried that I spoil the whole world!

You will save it! Don't stop now!

I havent been professing to solve the problem, or even knowing all about it, and the fact that I have no scientific training doesnt mean that I have no knowledge of it.

With your obviously far superior training pray do tell us what you have contributed toward solving the varroa problem? or is your only contribution that of expounding your unproven theory that bees die of you dont treat them.

I dont claim to have found bees that are resistant to varroa or that I am right and you are wrong.......... I just see no reason in treating my bees if they have already survived for three years whilst in my hives.

You will save it!

I very much doubt it, but its a sure bet that with your attitude that you certainly wont either.

And you are worried that I spoil the whole world
Its obvious that you dont care much about it

Well, I promised so here's a few I just snapped, excuse the poorly manicured habitat - it's for living creatures to use, not to try and screw every last bit of money out of it.

Oh, and just call me "BIG BOY".

Chris

Chris as I can see You have some nicotplast hives. What is your experience toward wooden ones? We don't have here poly or so, so always interesting to hear some different opinions.
Thanks.

What exactly was your education in biology? which discipline in that very, very wide field? and which wonderful university?

And why are you have trouble dealing with people who challenge your views?

If it gets difficult you resort to variants of one or all of:

"I have n decades as beekeeper"
"its been done before"
"bee keeping has changed since then"
"I have university education in biology"
"bee keepers/bee scientists in the {insert country of opponent} are useless/know nothing"
"how much honey have you harvested, i get xxx Kg"
"you are only a X hive beekeeper and are of no account"
"bla bla..."
writing in finnish
inserting irrelevent U tube videos

.......... I just see no reason in treating my bees if they have already survived for three years whilst in my hives.

t

i am really impressed on your succes.

there much those "do nothing" guys on beemaster forum.
Second step in progress is "do in time". I am on the way on it.

its like talking to somebody from ebay.

They give an answer that has nothing to do with the question.
Press button A for what might be the most relevant.
