I have been lent a Food and Environment Research Agency booklet on Foul brood disease of honey bees.Unfortunately I've got to give it back!
I can't find it online to buy my own copy. Does anyone know if it is still in print? If not, is there an equivalent that is as good or better?
I would also like to go on a disease recognition course at some stage - does such a thing exist?

They do. The inspectorate do them through the season. I think I get to know via my local association.

In our neck of the woods the regional bee inspector sets them up then contacts the local associations in an area, one association will then host the workshop and invite the other local associations to come along to the day. So it might be worth contacting your bee inspector to see if they know of anything local to you. All email and phone numbers for bee inspectors can be found on the beebase website.
