Seems that of 75 voters the winner is.... Refund the donation and move on

Is that going to happen or do we need to discuss it ad nauseum?

I've read through all the posts on this thread - I have no idea who they refer to, nor do I want to. All of the replies make very good points. As a newcomer to the forum here is my opinion:-

I like there being no adverts all over the site.
I can't work out what the beekeeping auction is all about.
I've looked in the beekeeping directory hoping to see adverts from people on here because for me they would be trustworthy.

My vote = refund the FEE, and move on.

I thought those wishing to sell stuff had to be contributors.

I think 9 pages of this thread illustrates just what a pain this sort of thing can be - I'm with Hivemaker, have a nice easy and unquibblable blanket ban on all sales on the forum - everyone knows where they are, and the admin team can get on with the other onerous tasks involved in running the forum.........

there was a bit more to what I posted which said to use the beekeeping directory for sales keeping it off the forum.

if you ban sales are you going to stop sales through the PM system? and the recomendations of members and products?

More good ideas, yes do away with the pm system, the directory, the auction site, and ban any mention of all and any suppliers on the forum, along with all links to anything.

Ban the moderators and party....Riots

Yes, lets do that, yawn, then we can all sit back and watch our freshly painted hive dry.
What’s the point of having a beekeeping forum that is supposed to inform and support beekeepers if you cut off information that could be useful to the hobby any resources that may be on our door step?
I will agree that it make the admins job easier, but is that what the forum is about, yes let’s talk about beekeeping, but don’t make my job to hard.
Maybe it’s time to make the forum your job and give us all the information that’s out there...

A sensible suggestion: only have a 'wanted' section with no to and fro traffic on that section and no 'for sale' items whatsoever.

That way the PM system would have to be used for those wanting to sell and it keeps it off the main discussion forum. It would keep those, who would otherwise want to subvert the rules and advertise, busy earning their sales and less likely to have time to make blatant or subliminal adverts.

Why don't you get on and do something else,no need to sit and watch paint dry.

Thanks for that Pete, I will take your advice and get up from watching the paint dry, get off back side and cancel the Queen order I placed with you and place an order with a commercial queen breeder, one that’s not able to advertise on the forum and place my order them.
What was Norton’s email address again?
