Spotted some sheets of clear polycarbonate in a local diy emporium at £9.99 for 600 x 1200mm so I brought one home. So far I have made 2 crown boards in one piece and enough material left for another albeit with a joint in it. Just a bit of scrap wood through the circular saw and some epoxy resin to add to the costs but much cheaper than buying ready made.

Is the "DIY emporium" part of a nationwide chain? (Like where should we look?)

And what was the thickness?

That sounds like a good deal. How did you cut it?

A local (Carlisle d i y. In Goole) shop not part of any chain but I did see the same sheets in Wicks for much more. Thickness approx 3 mm.
I cut them with my circular table saw feeding in slowly to avoid heating the material or splintering. I also cut a 25 mm feed hole in the centre using a starret electricians hole saw again slowly and withdrawing frequently to avoid melting the swarf and turning over so the hole had clean edges both sides.
With very coarse emery i roughend a strip about 20 mm wide round the edges on both sides and epoxy resin glued a beespace strip round the edge on one side and a small eke strip for apiguard on the other. When not feeding i lay a piece of slate over the feeding hole but anything flat would do.
If I find the material sags over time I may put a bracing strip across the middle but its research and development
