I plan to get a blow torch (the type which attaches directly onto a gas cannister), to quickly re-light my smoker if it goes out during inspections.
Which make / model do users recommend?

No particular make, but a) get one with a a piezo (click) ignition, and not too big- the more you go on the less you'll need it!

.

Wickes... at least you can get a replacement under guarantee when the piezo pacs up after 3 months of use...... I am on my ...at least 12th !!

I paid £1.40 for a blister pack of 3 of the blow torch I use. Easy to light with an adjustable flame as well.
Available at supermarkets or even a corner shop/tobacconist.
It needs a bit of shelter in a gale but one will last a season used usually once every day. Smoker normally stays lit rest of the day.

I would save your money and practice keeping your smoker alight a few puffs now & then should do it

Yes, definitely 'self-lighting'

and get the cheapest as it'll be ruined by being left out in the rain before it breaks!

I use a 'butane filled from a refill can' creme brulee, or whatever, chef's singe-ing thingamegig from Lidl. Auto safety lock off is a bit of a pain at times but works well.

Thrones sell a purpose built mini blow torch that fits over a clipper lighter.
I bought one last year. It's brilliant and as good as full size blow torch for lighting a smoker in the wind. Its a bit like a chef's thingamegig though, so that would work as well.

I bought one of these last year which works well,

Just be aware that it does not have a safety lock.

Mike.

I bought one of the Creme Brulee Torchs from a well known bidding site. it was'nt the cheapest but it does have the saftey lock. I carry a butane refill can its never let me down. Andy

I've got a turboflame lighter, refilled with lighter gas - about the same size as one of those candle lighters but it throws out out a small jet of flame and lights the smoker a treat on fleabay or good camping shops for about a tenner

I've heard these are quite effective -

ELY, I think that design is meant for the proper disposal of politicians and bankers. However, it may also be useful for AFB infections.

I use one of these, I am not allowed to say the name but works fine and a reasonable price although not as cheap as they use to be but one good thing they don't need refilling ;)
