Hello everyone,

I've recently found bees flying out of the wooden fascia above my front door and would like some help identifying what species they are. Fortunately for me there was a dead one on the floor so I could get a decentish snap of one.

Any advice on what to do and general information about them would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance :).

Thank you for the quick reply.

Ah I was hoping they would be masonry bees. Any advice on any action I should take? I dont want to get stung every time I leave the front door lol

Personally, I'd leave them and see what happens. If they become a problem, it will be a case of getting to and removing their nest.

I have a nest of these in a bird box right above my back door, and they're no problem at all.
They'll go of their own accord soon. :)

Thanks for the reply, and good to hear as I would rather not interfere if I can help it. They must of been there for a while without me noticing anyway so hopefully it should be okay :). Its turning into a right nature reserve around here with two blackbirds nests over the past months and now the bees lol.
