What sort of snake is this?

Could be the sub species of grass snake if it hasn't got the cream coloured collar new-species-of-grass-snake-discovered-in-england

And grass snakes do bite, out of the adder and grass snake, the grass snake is more likely to have a pop at you but only if cornered, have removed a few for friends and the grass snakes always get lively, and they have got a good set of teeth on them, but you would need to have if frogs and fish are your main food!

Didn't get a really good look at the head, but I suspect the common one - there did seem to be the collar. Interesting article, thanks.

its quite nice to see that they have recognised that there are two distinct species, as we just used to think there was green and brown grass snakes!!
