What did you do in the Apiary today?

Cloudy, mild +14, but very windy here. Bees very busy collecting pollen. Lots of white pollen with a pale yellow tinge. Any ideas?

We have spent 2 days up in the clouds....it's wet and drizzly and blowing a gale!
Chickens are fed up, horses are fed up....I'm fed up.....
On the up side....my Flow hive is now finished and glowing in a cedar like way with it's 4 coats of clear Danish oil. The spare pine brood boxes are shiny in their many coats of cedar coloured Danish oil too. I now have a kitchen table we could...if inclined....eat a meal at.

Whatever happened to TonyBloke - started possibly the longest thread known to man but not active since 2013. If only he knew.

Humped a few breeze blocks up to the apiary for hive stands - bit blowey here though - bees were not fancying it.

Checked my crown boards for fondant supplies and found the one hive I was concerned about still alive and well

All other hives active despite the drizzle

Good Grief I had no idea.

He was a top bloke, RIP

Talk about put my foot in it....least he has a legacy in this post. And still my favourite thread.

Not in the Apiary .. spent the day at RHS Wisley .. bit blowy but very mild. Lots of crocus and snowdrops in bloom. At one point I found some children pointing at a 'wasp' on the ground .. turned out to be a honey bee .. looked a bit cold so I picked her up (much to the chilldren's horror - fearing that I would be 'stung to death'). As I warmed her in my cupped hands I faced a barrage of questions about bees ... and wasps .. and as I raised my hand to see if she had recovered she raised her tail and I thought .. oh no - the kids were right ... and she flew off !! I hope she got home safely - not many other bees out there today.

But the butterfly event in the tropical glass house was stunning ...

Busy day for me, drove to prime out Apiary I have , planted 8 fruit trees, large area of Phacelia, Sarocca Confusa Shrub and Skimmia.

Great to see bees out in force foraging on Mahonia and Rosemary.

Snapped this Bumble Queen out foraging on some beautifull crocus I planted

Tonybloke passed away, sadly.

Rest in Peace. Thanks for your Post Tony

I've seen a couple of bees out today but it's barely 7'C in the new apiary so most of them are staying in.

I have spent the whole day recovering wax. have now reached the point that trading it at the shows means I have a surplus of foundation. I don't need any more frames or foundation. Does anyone know whether they will issue with a credit note to spend on other stuff?

Four out of five flying in the sunshine today.
Nothing at all from my only wood box. I can hear bees in there but suspect very few. I'm sure I'm going to lose these....what a bummer!!!!!!
