AMM F0
Carniolan F0
AMM x Carniolan F1 .
F1 x A,N, Other F2 .
Simple?
Buckfast isn’t a sub species .
This argument has been raging since Brother Adams quest to breed the perfect bee !

Of course, you could have F1, F2, etc within a race. For example, if you have two lines which have been bred for distinct characteristics. The first cross would be F1. F2 would be if that cross was crossed again with a different line.

Just like Mendel and his peas

First batch of queen cells started emerging last night. Marked and popped them back in the incubator until I can get to the apiary later this morning

Im in the process of introducing 2 buckfasts to my hives with push in cages. Really hoping mine are darlings :laughing-smiley-004:laughing-smiley-004:laughing-smiley-004

Nah, you want to hope they are babies... then you can breed a generation of darlings from them :)

Apairy in the fog today drizzle also not really raining and the girls in the new hives not out at all watching from the entrance where as my first hive which has been up here for 2 seasons were out flying over to the thorn 10 metres away is this because there different stock. Genetics ?
New hives welsh Amm second genaration.
Old hive Italian's/local bees.

I made a nuc today and it was more stressful than work. I took measurements from someone elses nuc and i may as well not have bothered. It was pretty much from scratch and i hope they don't mind filling in the gaps that i hashed up. I also seen the bees flatout as its 22 degrees here so i just stayed away from them

Speak for yourself.
Prepared 9 mini mating nucs for inhabitants next week. (I expect some to be horrible and to be winnowed out).

Feeling very content...looks like the artificial swarm followed by knocking down of a few queen cells over the past two weeks at four day intervals has worked! Lots of new foundation drawn and loads of eggs being laid. Three supers on, two of which almost full of nectar/honey and lots being capped. Not sure how long it'll be before I can extract but it's very exciting.

Great news for the old hive in new location too. The queen has emerged and is walking around with lots of energy. She's only emerged within the last four days so hasn't mated yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing her laying.

First season in and I'm in a good spot. Lots of challenges and frustrating times ahead but I'll treasure all of these little moments to remind myself why we do it!

Inspected both colonies, added second super to each. First supers now being capped. Buckfasts still annoying - found the queen in the super on a frame of drone brood. It was a foundationless frame (thus the drone brood?) with escape routes side to side and the queen eluded capture. I had intended on culling some of the drones for varroa control, but decided to let her majesty have her way.
Other hive of mngrels bursting at the seams.
One sting on the end of a finger - my fault. Both colonies calm and well behaved despite heavy, humid weather.
Hope to create a third colony in June. No luck with swarms yet.

Robbed a hive of a frame of stores for a Nuc also destroyed all queen cells in one Nuc, the hive i robbed it from where not very happy my OZ Bee jacket got the test that i was happy with and my brow was still dry and no stings.

Also moved two Nucs to opposite directions, one Nuc was more active so i thought i would even them out. hope the more active one was not getting robbed..

Following disaterous attempt at bailey comb change, missed qc,... swarmed mid way through. Long story short needed to requeen 2 hives that had been q- for 3 weeks. My 2 pre ordered exmoor buckfasts arrived. Popped them into push in cages and checked today. Both accepted and laying. Looking forward to cslmer bees in 3-6 weeks time.

What does AT's mean please..?
