Be aware the start of next weekis looking particularly cold! Widespread overnight frosts likely.

The forecasts look grim right through April and into May, hope the weather improves by the time the bell heather flowers.

Beautiful sunshine here today looking through the windows, but when you venture out it is quite cold with a very bitter wind, no bees out today, hope it warms up with all that rape starting to flower :sunning:

Yes, bitter wind here too in Preston Lancashire. Some hail this morning. Rain this afternoon and glimpses of sunshine. But it's that wind that's keeping the bees in. Brrrrr

Here's an article discussing Accuweather's 45-day 'forecast':

I have been looking at a few, including the met office 30 day forecast, not just acu weather, all pretty grim as far as they are concerned, i am sure they will be mostly wrong though, last week for here was forecast temperatures in the low to mid teens, with plenty of sunshine, temperatures were 6c/7c and thick wall to wall fog every day. I agree it is just marketing/propaganda to entice people to go on holiday in this country.

I wonder who predicted the March followed by the miserable (for bees) weather for April and most of May in 2012.

They have almost perfected in forecasting what you are actually getting at the present time (not really forecasting, is it?). As for a few days ahead, it is guesswork, without certainty involved.

It could easily develop in the same way this year. OSR is about a week ahead of 2012 - does that mean anything? I very much doubt it does, but at the same time I will watch for what actually transpires, not what someone is guessing as a supposed job.

If I had got it wrong, in my jobs, so many times as the weather forecasters I am sure I would have been invited to look for alternative employment!

Anyone fancy some summery weather on Monday? :)

Looking warmer for the weekend and into the beginning of next week before the north cools down but still nice in the South.

Looks promising - thanks. I wonder if anyone keeps bees in Orkney or Shetland - still looks chilly there.

I'm off to Sheffield tomorrow ... laying a patio for my daughter - looks like 13 degrees up there ... almost mid-summer by Sheffield standards !! I'll get my shorts out then ...

After a wet blip Sunday and a little unsettled, high pressure building on Tuesday for the week onwards... Staying warm and settled:)
