I like the look of those transparent labels you see on some jars of produce. Does anyone know where I could get some printed for a reasonable price.

Thornes STH range. The first lot I had done smudged easily, replacements seem more durable.

I've also had some printed by circomb for some Hogg Halfcomb sections which I was happy with.

I always find it hard to find stuff on T****. I will take another look.

How did you find the Hogg half comb sections? Did the bees draw easily and where did you get them please?

I bought Avery clear labels and took my own design on a USB stick to a specialist print co. who ran them off on the laser printer. Not the cheapest way to do it, but they are striking!

Ok, will do, but you'll have to be patient - I'm out of stock at the mo. I tried on the work laser, about a month ago, on all sorts of settings, but the printer just melted all the (expensive!) labels....I have, in the interim, returned to printed "pretties" from Thornes.

I will get some more of my own done, as soon as the beekeeping front calms down. Hopefully in time for the Gower show, to give JBM a run for his money!!

It can be an expensive mistake to run non-laser labels through a laser printer.
The toner powder gets 'fixed' to the paper/label by melting it in a heated mangle - the "fuser unit".
ONLY put any labels into a *laser* printer that are *explicitly* marked as being suitable for use in a laser. Otherwise the label glue can melt, the labels get stuck and melted onto the fuser … messy, potentially dangerous and expensive. These days you can get a new printer more cheaply than many replacement fuser units!
Avery sell transparent laser labels.

When choosing a (colour) laser printer, explore the consumables costs. What needs replacement and what does it cost? The Dell C1660W has recently been appearing on clearance (was £79 at Tesco - missed it!) and needs nothing other than toner powder (which can be found very cheaply on eBay). Dead cheap wireless colour laser …
