Painting an Apidea

What do members use to tone down white Apidea's ?
I have so water based fence stain and was thinking of using it.

Same as any poly. some say gloss and some say emulsion.

Pick your shade and slap it on.

I have made some bait hives out of poly boxes I got from our local aquatic outlet, I painted them with brown water based fence paint to give them a camo effect but it doesn't sink into poly like it does in wood, and when it rains it comes off When You handle them, I should have realized.

I forgot.

Strong colour, and at least two to make it stand out as "home" the virgins need all the help in returning back.
