Bit of a problem. A neighbour and fellow beekeeper looks like he is in over his head. Whilst I have kept to my 2 hives which I can manage given the time available, my neighbour's just keep expanding in number. I've lost track of how many he actually has.

Problem is, he has obviously been busy and not been doing his inspections. There have been at least 3 swarms in the last week and fellow allotment holders are getting annoyed.. The way things are going there'll be a whole lot more in the coming weeks.

So...... Any suggestions on how to ask him to give up his hives before it's too late?

You really need to speak to him, there could be some good reason why he didn't inspect his hives
Perhaps you could offer your help but you need to be somewhat tactical

What agreement do you have with the owners of the allotments ?

locally our council state bees can only be kept if the person is a member of the local beekeeping club and a total of three hives across the whole allotment site
