The hive in question is on eight frames dummied down with kingspan to fill the void..on inspecting the inspection tray today i have noticed the little devils have found a weakness in the aluminum foil... i am 50/50 on what to do..

(A) leave them alone till spring which i suspect will cause me a world of hurt with wild comb full of brood.. Or.

(B) open them up on the next best day and remove the kingspan dummy board and give them two extra frames to play with and a fresh narrowed down new dummy board.

Just go in and sort out when you can, no harm will be done

Sort them out in the spring
Have had exactly the same happen in a dummied down Paynes polly nuc... annoying little buggers even spat the Kingsan all around the nuc!
Now I add a sheet of Correx against the King span/ Celotex thick dummy.

Chons da

No space in these poly boxes for a dummy board.. a sheet of news paper might fit though..

I meant where there is space. If you can fit two frames in then surely you can fit a dummy and a 25mom slab of PIR. My point was that I find if there is a regular dummy first the bees leave the insulation alone

I will dig the brolly out and see what i can do today..;)

I have built my own dummy boards this year by sandwiching PIR/whatever(of whatever thickness) between two sheets of correx. I found a useful supply of unwanted political signage. Finding the right glue was a challenge but in the end I used "Sticks like Sh*t", either white or colourless. Yes it really is called that!
