I know we are all beekeepers, but apart from that, what is your main occupation?

I've just finished college as a full-time mature student, and am about to start teacher training courses. I'm also the secretary of our local allotment association (1000 plots, 14 sites)
What does everyone else do (apart from bees) during the days/nights??

Hi, 16 years as an engineer with british aerospace, many years as a service engineer for an electronics company. now a driving instructor!

Retired (Nurse of 37 yrs) 6 years ago.
Had 2 residential homes for the Elderly - so still caring- but bees dont flush their teeth down the toilet. or save sardine sandwiches in stocking tops to give to grandsons!!!

I'm a livestock preganacy scanner, mostly cattle - dairy and beef, also sheep during the autumn/winter, pigs, alpacas, bitches, mares as and when. I'm self employed and have been doing it for about 16 years. Absolutely love it........I never have cold hands during the winter...............

Blimey where do I start?

I have had all sorts of jobs (when necessary), but most science linked.

Radiochemicals, cement production, precious metal recovery, wood machinist in the distant past. Now putting the degree to work as supply cover, working for an agency.

Get caught for science or maths but put up with anything if things are thin on the ground.

Hobbies include amateur radio(dormant at the moment), Oliver tractors (12), circular sock machines (40+), as well as beekeeping. Into renewable, or at least sustainable, energy. Plus others.

Regards, RAB

Another driving instructor! For the last 5 years, after about 20 years of selling printing machinery.

ive been fitting kitchens and bedrooms for nearly 25yrs now,and i still get a buzz from it:):)started when i was 21.before that i went straight from school into the armed forces

I'm coffin dodging  .

Started work down a coal mine at the great age of 15 years (never heard of this William Wilberforce guy?) On attaining the age of 17.5 years I saw the light in more ways than one and joined the Royal Air Force, saw service in Northern Ireland, Malta, Cyprus, North Africa , finally South Wales (that was a bummer :) ). On demob at the age of 23 years I joined a company subcontracting to the aero-space industry.. I was there for 42 years (supposed to be a stop gap until something better came along). I've now been retired 7 years ( I could get used to this )
On the way I've collected 1 wife, 3 kids, 8 grandkids and 4 great grandkids, oh! and a dog (she's eclipsed all else :piggy:).
I started playing with bees 1989, had highs and lows but inspite of varroa it does get easier !!.

John Wilkinson.
Ps, also a radio ham not qrv at the moment ,call sign G4WIL (look familiar ?)

Im a recently ex driving instructor, had enough after 10 years,so just do a driving job for a motor factors. Much happier doing this,a lot more relaxing than a driving instructor.

Planning to be a beekeeper but won't be giving up my day job (shame :))

Work in IT, Public Sector, spend most my time poking file servers with sticks.

Strangely, it seems, I also have an amateur radio license ;)

Been in IT for 37 years (started on an abacus :) ) . Now work as an IT Security Specialst for a large Insurance Co.

Best job I ever had (before IT) was a beer tester in a brewery. Now that WAS a good job (what I remember of it :cheers2: )

I have been in IT for 22 years, now run an IT support company.

So it seems mostly driving instructors and IT guys so far then :D

Engineer and journalist. Traded commercial aircraft for 20 years 'til 9/11 put pay to all that, now businessman, kiteflyer, sailor and dad.

Refrigeration & AC engineer. Now running holiday cottages in North Devon.

I work in purchasing, specialising in buying items not being manufactured, i.e. facilities services, tooling, overheads etc. This gives me a reasonable cross section of items, that are transferrable to most industries. I am in the process of setting up a small firm to work freelance, generating savings for small to medium businesses, that have not got dedicated purchasing departments.

In my spare time, I am running Buzzy Bee Shop.
