Bring back the days when people didn't have to provide the kids with so much, they have to steal, a time when we had time, to converse and laugh together. Eat together. Sing together. We have lost so much chasing that dream portrayed on every advertising .................... we are becoming slaves to clean floors and sofas, spray cleaners and covered foam. That is polluting our beautiful world.

Do you really think they thought about it over the Chistmas period; Really!!

Yes, because they contacted me 31/1/14 with the decision I was after. Everything has been systematically logged with this situation. Been a four year battle, but I don't give up when I put my mind to something.
Still, they could have had a nice new year, I suppose there was enough time left. They were running out of options.......election year coming up!;):)

Oh I agree..... I'm sure its all relevant and the reason why I aquired three hospital infections...

For those that find handling the NHS difficult (or indeed any giant lumbering behemoth of a company) you need to realise that big companies find one insistent person a pain.
This video tends to illustrate my method of achieving this: (30 seconds in and give it time!)

MRSA is no fun, two weeks in hospital and three months of antibiotics being injected through a tube in your arm isn't much of a laugh either.

At one point i was wiping yellow puss from around a tube inserted into my arm and having sweating fits but the hospital staff refused to accept it was infected, three days later after becoming quite ill they removed the tube and put another one in and said it had become infected. No surprise there.

Spending a weekend in a stroke ward is an eye opener. There are worse things than death around.

I had a cannular in my arm for 7 days... Found out from the nurse who took it out that they're supposed to be changed after three days.....which is why they write the date on the plaster. The date on mine had been covered with another plaster.

A nurse said "You arent constipated. If you cant go it's because you dont need to"!!!!

I came to the conclusion that half the staff were untrained..They call some of them "care workers"
Use the call buzzer......a person in uniform appears..you explain the problem and they tell you they arent qualified to do that and they will get a nurse.
I called one day to point out that the bag of whatever it was that was being fed into my arm was empty..She looked at it and said "oh.I wonder why that is"

I replied "well thats what they do"

She said there was no need for me to be sarcastic and complained to a senior nurse.

Its a shame that if you have to go to A&E that so much time is wasted by at least 4 different people asking you whats wrong....starting with junior doctor who then gives details to another slightly higher grade doctor, until it reaches the level of somebody who realises that you are actually ill without having to use the computer to google the symptoms.

I had a mid line ( i think that's it's name ) in my arm , a tube about 14 inches long directly into the main vein for administering the antibiotics i was on.
They told me not to let anyone put a blood pressure cuff on it as it would cause serious problems.
When I went for surgery they put a cuff on that arm, when i tried to explain what I had been told about not putting a blood pressure cuff on there and showed them a card from the specialist nurse they put me out.
I woke up 4 hours later and tried to complain about what had been done and was told they knew what they were doing. It got infected and nearly killed me as the infection had a direct route to my heart.

The whole experience was a joke.
I collapsed in the clinic due to having to walk because there were no porters free. luckily i was caught by a nurse.
I was overdosed on painkillers morphine and tramadol then told i had self administered the drugs.
I had a red wristband which means i have allergic reactions to some things, one is elastoplast it brings me out in a rash , guess what i woke up covered in lol.
I received an apology from someone in a white coat but he neglected to give me his name.

9 months later I was back in hospital for more surgery to correct the damage done by the MRSA, that surgery didn't go as planned 6 hours with a tourniquet on my arm while they messed around with it.
A few months later i got a blood clot stuck in my brain luckily it cleared without doing much damage (not much there to damage anyway).
After weeks of tests they couldn't explain why it happened, when I asked if it was related to the surgery they said no and stopped answering my questions.

When i tried to push my complaints further some of my hospital notes seem to have been lost or destroyed, but only the ones relating to any dodgy treatment I received.

The NHS is a fantastic benefit to this country but unfortunately not everyone is good at their job.

I photographed all mine!!!

A consultant told me what the results of MRI scan were.
Saw another consultant 5 days later and he told me something far worse than the first one. Made on official complaint and get told that first consultant is sorry that we misunderstood him. He even drew a bloody diagram so we could understand what he meant.
Have now told them that we want an apology and I want compensation for contracting three avoidable hospital aquired infections.

A delay in replying must surely require that I tell local BBC.

My wife was in hospital for two weeks and the same sticky sweet was under her bed for the full two weeks, would that of happened in the days of matrons, I doubt it. Bring back bleach and wall covering that can be washed down, if anyone in my house gets a deli belly then out comes the bleach and every door handle gets a quick wipe

It would be nice if they washed the curtains between the beds sometimes too, especially the ones covered in both old blood and old vomit!

They won't let me look at x rays or my notes now, I had copies of my x rays before but now they won't even show them to me.
When i ask they close the computer screen.

Mid Staffs was an extreme example.. but I have known people who caught MRSA in North Staffs hospitals and are still suffering the side effects..

MRSA and anti biotic resistance in general will drive medicine back 70 years. The move back to rely on anti sepsis rather than drug treatment has started but it needs to become a culture in the general population as well.

Things were much worse a few years ago.. MRSA killed in both my father and in the same year the father of my boss.

You are entitled to see all records when ever you like giving them prior warning (that's just being reasonable as they have other things to do..... )
If they refuse your request, they are breaking the law and their own guidelines.
Ask for a "complaint form" and begin the complaints procedure. You may be surprised how quickly they change their stance.(unless they are stupid of course.) Once started, it can proceed up to the Government Ombudsman if necessary, or you can stop it at any stage. Never be afraid to complain officially, they have paid departments for this. May as well earn their keep!
By the way you can ask for copies of any and all of your health records going back more than one year inclusive.
At the moment, the present fee is a one off of £50 for all printed documents (moving more onto digital now.) All other documents on disk is £10. (these are maximum payments. so don't let them bullsh*t you)
Official F.O.I. (that Gilberdyke John seems to refer to, or he could mean the same thing) strictly speaking, is a more formal and time consuming. different route than the above built in method.

Hope this makes sense and gives you some help. :)

When I received the written reply to my complaint it informed me that any reply should be made in the first instance by telephone to the legal dept.to Mrs***.
I suppose that will be Mrs*** who is out to lunch, in a meeting, on holiday, or will call back later.

If your unhappy, then you can get free advice from clinical negligence solicitors. (careful who you pick, ask around) they can advise you and also they can get (presently) £250 from the "Legal help and help at court scheme" to assist or even make preliminary investigations.
You don't have to follow the 'bull' that they are trying to scare you with (which you realise) if you just want copies of your records or X-rays or even scans. They direct you to legal depts. to try and put you off. All you have to do is write a letter from you to the "head of the dept." (format, like you would write to anyone, nothing fancy just include date and also your reference or national health number) and request what you desire (include details of dates etc for clarification) and say you include the appropriate fee, thank you very much.
Keep copies of everything you send in or receive. Go to the dept. concerned and hand in the request. They will check it and unless they are playing a game (which is where the solicitor and the £250 comes in) they will send you what you want in the format you requested) If it on disk they send a password to break the encryption on the disk ( separately for security purposes). I've done this several times and even waited while they download it onto disk. Recently I wanted to check up on a scan and the head consultant phoned me to clarify what format I wanted and while I was on the phone he spent about 15 mins, going through my file with me and answered all my questions. I didn't need the file then, even though he still offered it, as I found out what I wanted, got a free private consultation and saved myself £10!
Give it a go and use your charm like I do. (Ok that last bit is a lie!)
Hope you get some joy.
Regards Dave:)

I'm not after any files..
They cant deny that I got 3 infections.

I know there plently of solicitors out there who will do the work but basically they will only be asking for the same thing as I am asking for.

Today I received a reply form the hospital regarding the 3 infections I contracted.

In short.

"patients with catheters and/or stents are at a higher risk of acquiring UTI's as they are likely to become colonised with bacteria ...UIT is more frequent in hospital settings, but Dr ??? does not agree that the hospital gave you these infections"

So after being discharged at 5pm and being admitted the following evening it must be coinidental that I got urosepsis, and similarly a couple of weeks later I was back with 2 infections.
