I too am shocked and shamed to be part of this forum after this thread.

How is it the end of the world for a label to be wrong but ok not to declare ANY income whether it be profit or loss to the Taxman, seems one rule for one but some rules for some.

Great forum till now

Lol mazzamazda its good to hear from someone from big C or as knew it. Its not so bad only a couple of posts it happens from time to time, I see it more as people sparring.

trouble is its not really sparring when the person on Flea bay has had to remove his product because of what has happened here.

if people are selling their honey they have a duty to inform the inland revenue, if you have spent more on equipment than on what you sold your honey for you will get a tax rebate agianst income tax you have payed on other things.

i will be doing a tax return this year for my beekeeping as i dont see why i shouldnt get a tax rebate on what i have spent, nearly £1k even basic rate back that is around £200 rebate as i know i wont be selling any honey this year.

even if it is just a hobby i cant see why i dont get a tax rebate for it. its like buying my work clothes i can reclaim those as they are only worn for work and can prove it, also union membership. my view is that the government can have my money but only what they are due not over that.

Does that work for any hobby then....say you spend a fortune on fishing or shooting ect, can you get the money back from the government because you have not sold a fish,or something you shot.

hivemaker im sure u could claim back the gun as your protecting ur hives from vermin(rats mice not london rioters). same as farmers do im sure

So spend say 70,000 on a nice pair of purdey shotguns, and the inland revenue will give you back 14,000 towards your purchase, and perhaps a bit more cash to pay for you to go grouse shooting, which of course you will sell, but at a dead loss.

Dpearce4 give it a go

I have plenty of Carp fishermen around me who spend 1000’s a year on their hobby each year, they will be very interested in knowing they can claim the tax back.

if u have any eastern europeans near u they could say they are catching the carp to sell to them lol lol

u should try it. its very nice if a bit muddy taste, pike is good to

Had pike that’s ok will do that again but happy to leave the carp for the fishermen. Now sea trout or a fresh brown trout that’s a whole different deal.
