Just looked at the photo and first thought that looks like Ivy then I read the add and read “Autumn Honey” mmmm.

Personally I have no problem as to the price they are trying to get. The problem may be getting it out of the jar if it is Ivy.

well if i could get £16 a lb i would

i queried the label as i could not see a weight on the label ( but i am using a small ebook so all the writing looks indistinct on my ebook)

So does it say 113g in the correct height letters, product of the UK ,best before date and lot number in field of veiw

He is not exempt from 2003 labeling regulations as the exemption only applies to direct garden gate sales

Ask him lots of awkward questions - lets see if he puts them on the listing :)

I dont get why so many of you actually bully others in their activities.

It was just some person flogging a bit of honey, end of story.

have reported it to ebay as potential regs breach re labelling.

i slipped the photo of the jars into photoshop, it has no weight, no country of orgin and that picture of the flower. But it does have someones name on it. Mark someone or another

Pathetic, you must be so proud of yourself.

Its threads and petty point scoring like this that let the forum down.

i disagree, it is the beekeeper who is letting the beekeepers down, it is simple to comply with the rules and is part of the basic BBKA certificate syllabus ,probabley the easiest of exams to pass

Cornwall county council produce very good literature on labeling and it has advice to cottage beekeepers producing honey and selling it ( see attached)

i view it like being offered a cheap 42" Television from a man in Tottenham, could be ok, but how do i know

i was aslo very surprised no one else noticed the label problem when i posted it first post, Are your labels legal?

Just checked fleabay (1905) and the honey has been removed!!

congrats, when its tiny stuff like this its just forum bullying wrapped up in 'the greater good' cr*p

since when did this site become a guardian of right and wrong for everything bee related

has anyone contacted the tax authorities to see if they are declaring it as income?? (like the rest of you all do)

PS I am grumpy today lol, got a headache :) need curry!

It cant be classed as income, i spent more on the bees than they gave back, its an out going and we should be reimbursed from the TAX office for being beekeepers

It's not petty. There are very few regs regarding the production, processing and GENERAL sale of honey. We on here all abide by them (i hope). The whole UK "industry" is damaged by anyone who does not abide by these few simple rules.

"First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me"

Well I have sold some honey today with no labels on the jars and I am pleased to say the taxman will see none of it.

For small producers I like the French approach when it comes to such things as this. We can learn a lot from our neighbours.

Well this has given me a giggle, ok so the regs are wrong but the only thing i will say is that down here in cornwall if they can do something not quite legal but also not quite illegal then they will. Its the rebel in them!! You only have to go to a car boot (yep I am flog junk booter!) and listen to the patter half the regulars do and it would have you in fits - and thats before you get to the open selling of french wine/spirits and baccy. local bobbies walk the boot sales and dont say a word about it, so down here the best tasting honey is just that - one person will have tried it and past comment so that makes it so, he probably has a relative in Australia hence he is world renowned - not strictly telling lies!!! Only in Cornwall
