I had one very similar.
I made a wooden floor to fit over it then put a brood box of foundation on top and the bees moved up
I'm assuming you cut a hole out in the bottom board and made the brood box kind of an extension, or for lack a better word and additional chamber...
Wish I thought of that... I had a very similar removal from a borehole capping... Tried to cut out and get to the brood but ended up dropping the comb down a very deep dark hole.... Fortunately she/the queen climbed out and walked over to what I could salvage... One week later she was laying again...

But your idea I believe would have been a much better choice...

So for that I thank you,,,, will be putting that method into action very soon...
My very lucky salvage after dropping the ball / comb..
