Grandad was a builder - he used to have very long timber ladders and insisted on doing his own roof repairs until one day, my Dad went down to see them and Grandma was sat in their kitchen with no sign of grandad .. Dad asked where he was and Grandma said - 'he's on the roof but he's been gone a long time'.
