Was pondering the sections the last few days and the place seems to be getting a bit messy with sections for this and that and several others.

What is missing is a wax section and probably there are enough sections already if not more than enough.

So please feel free to post in this thread about your wax triumphs and your disasters.

It can be a wonderful substance to work with, it is so versitile and profitable too.

I have used it for foundation, for polish, furniture cream, candles and exhibitions.

My favourite night class session was the two hours we played with wax. Cough.. sorry made foundation.

Just one plea, wax only eh?

Ha you made the same mistake I did last year and didn't dip the wick in bees wax

Poly Hive had a video on here years ago with an ingenious device that filtered beeswax it involved a gas heater and a watering can

That's the first I've heard of it. I just followed the video on Thorne's site.

Thank you that could be a winter project making one of them, insistently has it got a patent

I'd find a wax forum/thread useful at the moment too. I have a fair amount several pounds to be rendered (cappings, burr and old comb that I've collected this year). I don't (yet) have a solar melter, and it requires the sun which is generally an ever diminishing resource in Oct...

I've seen some ways of rendering (eg steam, muslin cloth and boiling water) but would be interested in any thoughts on how to best do it. I think I'd most like to get it into 1oz blocks or possibly make candles in old glass's candle holders we have.

Cheers
