Lifted from the Native Irish Honeybee Society webpages:

2015 Bee Health Update

To date there has been a total 18 apiaries with AFB confirmed, one of which has two beekeepers with confirmed colonies at the one site.

In addition there have been 2 apiaries confirmed with EFB, one of these having a colony with AFB confirmed in the above total.

A considerable number of these disease findings are in colonies recently traded/moved along with a mix of old combs or swarms placed unto old combs.

Tom is the Senior Bee Inspector in Northern Ireland. In past years EFB has not really been identified in any "official" inspections but it is starting to raise its head....

Update from the same source (also on DARD website):

"As of 14th Oct we have identified AFB in 38 apiaries and EFB in 5 apiaries with the approx locations indicated on the attached map (also available from the link in the web page, see link below). One apiary was identified with both brood diseases which gives a total of 42 apiaries where a notifiable brood disease has been found to date in 2015. Many of the outbreaks (both AFB & EFB) are linked to recent bee movements but a few have no movement history or we can't identify a connection.

Inspections are continuing for the present while the good spell of weather continues but this isn't likely to continue for much longer. Many of the surveillance and follow-up inspections will be deferred to 2016.
