I got my first sting today. Got a bee inside my veil and then got stung on the back of the head.

Hurt a little bit but is more like a dull ache now.

All the hives today were in abit of a foul temper.

Where did you get stung first time?

I have never been stung, by anything, ever, in my whole life. I'm kind of waiting.....

we had some hives at school years ago and I used to get hammered in the ankles where we tucked our trousers into our socks, 20 stings on one inspection LOL They were nasty little blighters there.... happened on every inspection pretty much as well.

Recently got one on the hand after a bee got caught in my hair and started to panic, i was in the garden nowhere near the bees, just an accident.

First - long before I had bees - behind my right ear. Then two stings when I was picking up my nuc - well away from the apiary as I was taking my suit off, one in front of my right ear and one just under the nose!! (none of these hurt for more than an hour or so.
Had a sting to the hand two weeks ago and in the past from other insects and my hands do swell a bit, but I suppose I'd better get used to it!!

Under my chin.

When we first had the nuc a couple of the bees were followers. One decided to escort me and somehow ended up caught under my chin, et viola!

I'm not looking forward to it, and all my friends and family are waiting with baited breath lol. They know how frightened I was of bees, so they are all with me on this journey, and are expecting me to give it all in once the deed is done. I doubt it very much though, can't imagine my life without them now :)

i've been stung where no man would ever wish to be stung

I first got stung on the hand, twice, during one of my first inspections. Hurt a lot for the first day, and itched for a few days after that.

I was keen to now wear gloves if I could get away with it... I wear them now.

It's nothing more than if someone gave you a nasty pinch.

Like learning to ride a horse, you're no good until you fall off 27 times.

27 times!!! Not all at once! Surely! Lol, I doubt it will be that bad actually, seeing it happen to other people. I have 2 eyebrow piercings and my nose pierced, so my mentor reckons if I can do that, then bee stings are a doddle :)

In the pub, they gave me a couple of turkish coins and some euros as change and I just put it in my pocket. Barstewards.

Ouch....I hope you were on your own when it happened! Im sure you did not want to be close to other people as you hopped about!

When I got stung it really did not hurt as such, just a dull pain. Bless her, she got stuck in my hair and then only as a last resort did she sting me.

As suggested before on this forum, take a Piriton or similar before each inspection. I was stung quite badly helping a friend with a nasty colony recently and even with multiple stings in the same place (my shoulders got it badly) I had no reaction, just a bit pink for a couple of days. Similarly i've been stung on the finger and there was no swelling at all. Useful precaution, I reckon. ;)

I've been stung twice. Once when I married my first Wife and again when I married my second. I must say though, my first Wife was a good house keeper. She kept the house, the furniture, the car, everything.

My next door neighbour fell off one last week and broke both his wrists and a broken arm. It was kinda funny, one of our other neighbours was putting the horse in his back yard to eat the grass as the lazy bugger can not be bothered to cut the grass. It was a nice day and for some reason he thought he would ride this horse bare back  Poor thing had not had anyone on its back in 10 years… Needless to say, it still hasn’t! :beatdeadhorse5:

But as for stings I have only had one, on the end of my finger, it was swollen to 3-4 times its normal size for a week, made picking my nose rather hard :sifone:

I think you must have had my share haha, I think my extreme fear of anything that buzzes....including big flies.....has kept me well clear of being stung. Although, in July, I'll have been beekeeping a year now, and was expecting it to have happened by now. Saying that, I am extremely careful. :D

The woman I inspect with has been stung three times now lol, surely it's my turn soon?
