I've had mine since last June ... I feel deprived if I haven't looked at mine at least once a day ... and twice if I can ... and as for weekends - any excuse to have a walk past ....am I sad or what ?

are we still talking bees here?

its now 12.25 21 march and 10c and there has been about a dozen bee's in and out the hive. no pollen tho

Stop worrying ... they are just putting up the curtains and decorating to suit their taste ... they are females remember ...

It's not that warm outside and there's a bit of a breeze so you will only get a few hardy souls having a peek at the world outside ... they will be fine.

Have you given them names yet?

I fear you are being a trifle paranoid; I know when you first get bees the urge to check them every second, but the wind is still quite cold and they won't feel too inclined to venture out. Remember that last March at this time it was solid ice and no sign of action from a hive anywhere.

Once the temperature reaches a steady 15 or so you will start to see them getting going.

Yes mine are out and active, but when the clouds come over it soon gets cold. Don't think it reason to panic because there is not much flying.

Wife is working int he garden so it cant be too cold.

Sorry folks.
I was only trying to point him in the "right" direction, albeit probably too late.

Okay, you're doing a lot of looking so maybe it's time for you to download a copy of "At the Hive Entrance" by H. Storch, it will help you work out what's happening. You can get it free of copyright from Cornell University at https://archive.org/details/AtTheHiveEntrance

As per BeeJoyful

Should be required reading imo. Would stop a lot of frame waving in cold temperatures.
