Does pressing destroy the comb?

Heather Honey is thixotropic so it is difficult to extract with a spinning extractor, you either press it out or agitate the honey in the cells to make it runny enough to extract

You can use a spike roller or a mechanical agitator

Sold one a couple of years ago... will try to find pic I used on fleabuy and post it
fine metal mesh plates fitted over the comb

wood block grooves up.. metal mesh .. comb.. metal mesh.. block groves down etc etc... not hessian or cloth.

Essential if wanting to extract honey effectively if a TBH user

They are "plates" from what was called a "77" press made by Steele & Brodie, three were used per press, made from beach or ash they fitted into a metal compression devise which pivoted on top of a wooden frame with a catch tray underneath, mainly for squeezing heather honey. The other wooden press you see around is a Peebles press much larger and floor standing, completely made of beach or ash, again made by Steele and Brodie. Both pre 1983
