Just finished 160 top and bottom rails for national boxes , next job when I get time I'll start planning the timber for front and back panels

National floors

Learning from my mistakes and replace floor so that they of uniform size throughout the apiary. Nothing more frustrating than finding that sliders under OMF don't fit every hive.

Spent this morning picking up 13cuft of rough sawn cedar in varying sizes from the mill and stacking on bearers to allow for seasoning.
Lots of floors, boxes and roofs to make in a couple of months!

Should be more like nine months (or more), following the normal “one year per inch thickness for air-drying seasoning” shirley? Or are you using heat?

I dont see my workshop from April - October . 40 floors and bunch of split boards and I'll be done in there.

I am air drying but I have been using this cedar for about 3 years now and find that the thinner sections (<12mm for roofs etc.) can be planed and are useable after 2-3 months without warping. The larger sizes may take up to 6 months.
I am about to make some more nuc boxes from timber that was milled in August/Sept.

That's me done for now 9 x clear crown boards and six multi use ekes all for the price of lecky..also painted 10 x Queen excluders a lovely lotus green just incase I miss them for crown boards..highly unlikely but we never know.

What thickness Perspex did you use? I didn’t realise until after I made four out of 3mm, of the issue of sagging that could encroach on their bee space?

What weight are you putting above the Perspex.. i tested with a car battery on 3'5mm perspex and all was fine..

I have several made from 2mm which sag if a weight is place at the centre but I use large English feeders which actually bear near the edges of the crown board so do not cause sagging.

I support my 2mm ones with a couple of pieces of wood..when using a feeder.

Cut a stack of timber in readiness for repairing a load of hive roofs, originally build from buckshee plywood offcuts, galvanised metal roofs made for me by SWMBO's cousin who works in a sheet metal works. they're now delaminating and falling to bits, first few done and painted this afternoon to be exchanged for the next lot needing repairs tomorrow.

Cut up 2mm correx on the table saw to make 300 dummy boards.

200 SN1 and 100 DN1

Perfect fit for the Swienty 10 x DN4 + 1 DN1 (and the same in the super)

Costing about 50p a pop!
