A cautionary tale. I suppose you use the metal box to prevent setting the car on fire.

I use an old rusty file box screwed to a plank which is strapped to the roofrack. Tried to find a photo. Something like this;

Only a photo of the real thing will suffice. It sounds like a fine accessory for any modern motor car.

If I remember correctly RAB( Oliver 0900) set his car alight with a smoker!

Not true. The smoker was in my hand at the time I found it. I had just inspected about three hives and was returning to my car with my kit, before carrying a full (14 x 12, IIRC) super of honey to the car.

How many people beep there horn at you, trying to say you've left something on the roof?

I use a miniature galvanised dustbin

Open mesh floors

I had a few off cuts of roofing latts laying about so I decided to knock a few open mesh floors up...I also made tunnel entrances for them that will stay in place 24/7..this gives me seven spare floors to play with next year.

Have you been using your new toy from Aldi on those Millet??? They look very good.

Will you paint them , how long do you expect them to last

Will you paint them , how long do you expect them to last

If that is for me i will paint the lot with creosote and they will last forever... If that was not for me i will not paint them with anything and they will last a life time.. which can be as long as a piece of string..

Made up 3 x 6 frame nucs from secondhand WBP ply. Just need to sand seal edges (yacht varnish) and paint..which in this weather will take 3 days to dry.

(I was painting new BE mating nucs - half price in sale# - and the Garden Shades took so long to dry, I had to place on top of gas boiler )

# yes I know I am mean...
