I'm not doubting the fact as i have no idea, however where do you get this concrete evidence from is there a scientific study done on the subject.

Lots, try google, or the great finman would probably tell you to look up the European varroa working group. I cant be arsed to dig out the definitive myself but its well enough established for me to be confident in the assertion.

Thymolated feed doesnt work as varroa control.

Wasn't quite what i asked....
"With longer established colonies, is it the case that comb that has stored thymolated stores is serving to inhibit varroa breeding?"
From memory, Jennifer Berry has looked into chemical residues present in comb. Must do a bit of reading to see to what extent Thymol is referenced if at all.

Finally nadired two hives here at home, loads of stores but popped a feeder on each with a little thymol syrup mix. Also make up another two batches of 2:1 syrup, this should be the last we need this year.

Although it's an American presentation, you may find this informative (his style is a bit long winded but stick with it)

The relevant part of the presentation starts here https://youtu.be/q4WvPNmS7uc?t=3m38s

Interesting day today.
I went to one of my apiaries but the approach Road was closed by a security guard. It turns out that they are filming an Agatha Christie story (Crooked House) there.
When I explained what I wanted, they let me through.

Cold and light drizzle today. Ideal for attaching mouseguards - so I did. A few bees sat on their porches and several investigated me..I finished before any stings...

Kept feeding...

Dispatched six wasp queens so far and I noticed the wasps hawking for bees at the hive entrance.

CHecked under my new bonnets for condensation. Dry so far.....

:agree:
There were a few dead bees on one of the landing boards this morning with a couple of wasps investigating so I just swept the lot off into the grass.
I spotted one queen going into a hole in a junction box in the kitchen. I hope she has a snug winter.

A sign of the times I'm afraid if it flies or crawls kill it .I think its down to a lack of knowledge. Wasps do a lot of good in the garden its only at certain times of the year they are a pain. This year they have been few and far between in our area so I for one won't be swatting any queens.
