Ok, Hive #1 - Good, took one super with no problem

Hive #2 - Took 2 supers with no probs...thanks clearer boards

Hive #3 + 4 Both nucs. 1 moved to WBC and one remains a nuc.

Hive #5 - Arrgghh....bees started pouring from entrance as soon as we stood on the board under hive...I got 4 stings on one leg and 1 on the other - Hubby got 1 sting...managed to remove 4 frames of honey... They still have 6+ frames. We will re-queen as soon as our house viewing on 2nd goes ahead. There are times I hate bees...and I have noticed that I now develop a rash when stung - now that is new...

Put entrance reducers on all hives as I've been seeing wasps buzzing around near my hives lately.

Checked two Apedia's, one of which now has a queen the second still not emerged but if dates a right should be tomorrow. Hope to get these into nucs ASAP and built up to over winter. Hoping there is still time to do so.

4 supers off yesterday
Bloomin extractor was playing up.....could have done without that!!!
Dark honey...never had that before.

It rained..... .....first time in weeks.
Garden (and Balsam ) heaving a sigh of relief.

Well, this week's summary is ...

Removed 4 supers....to find 4 frames were solid with set OSR....so they had to be melted instead of extracted, used the new 9 frame radial electric extractor (won it in an auction for £195) for the first time, strained, bottled over 90lb and then put the jars in the warming cabinet to clear away any lingering osr crystals.
For the 2 youngsters in the family, they love the bottling process....the younger one handing me the jars, the elder screwing the lids on...with the reward of some honey afterwards...!

And for today....off to check on the colonies.....if the rain holds off !

In that case find someone elses mother to take in all your parcels and you can then sneak them back home when SWMBo's not looking - Unfortunately too far away from my mam, I'm sure she'd have obliged, she's had plenty of practice
