Ordered some 14x12 frames in the Paynes sales. Bought myself a nail gun from Screwfix and starting building my super frames that I bought in the Maisey's sale.

I think I'm going frame blind!

Picked up 3 bees from the landing board very still, dead like, think they had got caught cold while performing undertaker duties, warmed them up in my hands for a few minutes until they livened up. 2 were happy to go back into the hive but the 3rd insisted on sitting in my hand for another few minutes before going back in.

Vaped 6 hives. the 7th, which suffered badly from CBPV during the summer, appears to be no more.

Three slabs of 2kg fondant going on today.
x2 single nats and one 14x12 all with supers are just weighing a bit low. Will sleep easier knowing they have it if they need it.

How did it manage to get onto the crown board..

The roof had a 50mm kingspan wedged into it. It left a gap between the kingspan & the edge of the roof so they ate their way through the kingspan and onto the crown board. I've sorted the roof out- better later than never.

Today first time at the apiaries in new year. Warm - above 10C, sunny, clear blue sky, no wind, bees flying in the field and in branches of hazels.. Didn't spent time around them due other work..

12c here today but Very windy! Hefting was done and sugar was added to some. Was going to take some photos but the wind made it difficult as it was, so none taken.

Rubbish weather here but then again it is winter after all.
I decided to weigh them today.

Yellow Queen Hive = 106lb

White Queen Hive = 105lb

Blue Queen Hive = 107lb

I also weighed them two weeks ago and they have put on weight again.
The weights a fortnight ago.

Yellow = 105lb

White = 103lb

Blue = 101lb

As you can see the blue Hive has put on 6lb so i think i may have to put them on a diet..:spy:

Bloody Buckfast bees nectar collecting in mid winter.....don't they know there's RULEZ.

Your Queen is the Blue one..;) mind you i have put a bucket of 1:1 syrup in between the hives so maybe the teenage bees are sneaking out after dark for a quick drink.

Fondant on half my hives and took a look in the hive from hell thinking this cold weather would sort them out.
What a mistake that was....... they're still fighting like mad.

Might feed em and split them in the spring into nucs and terminate the old girls rule
