After reading through this thread 'm going to give vaporising a try, is there a straightforward how two I should be following / recommended method, or is that being too optimistic? Thanks in advance

I was all set for it over xmass time seeing as I didn't treat in autumn. Because of the mild weather and possible brood in the hives, I've been asking a few in our club and anyone I've chatted to about it, all didn't recommend it.

Now I'm torn between will I or won't i. Would hate to get to spring and mites to have fcuked my hives or if I do treat this way, I'd hate to kill new brood and mess the hive up. TBH, I always thought that vapping the hives didn't kill brood but the other beeks in our club say the opposite!

Now I've a major head f**k again not knowing what to do!

Well....I presume you've read most of the threads here regarding sublimating with Oxalic. There is a wealth of information here from quite a few beekeepers, hobby and commercial, who have.
On balance what do you think?

Yes but they are like most threads, very head pickling when not everyone agrees with each other! If I decided to treat and bees die, some will say " I told ya so" but if I don't treat and bees die, it'll be the same I told you so. As for what I think, I think I'm turning into a schizophrenic ( had to ask our good aul friend mr Google how to spell that one) during the day because I was changing my mind every hour from doing it to not doing it to changing my mind every min now. :(

OK
I'll paraphrase what everybody here.....mostly.... has said....
Oxalic vapour at the concentrations beekeepers are sublimating it does not kill brood.
Believe it or not

:iagree:

Do it, Vape now before queen starts to become active, follow the instructions and you will see a benefit in the reduced mites in your colonies and resultant enhanced strength in spring build up.

I have done it ( more hives to do tomorrow, just got new Varrox after previous contraption went wallop ) it works

Just do it. It is a no brainer if ever there was one in beekeeeping.

Put it another way - how often, when you've asked the advice of your local beeks have they given you ***** advice?

It's not that long ago when Irish Guy was just starting. We should recall him struggling to separate the crap advice his local contacts fed him from reality.

Go for it . I did and there were no deaths/side effects . I had been advised by my mentor to only treat in autumn and shook swarm in the spring ? To me it seemed like such a waste of the bees resources and would set them back . So after reading as much as i can on vaping and it mostly being positive i took the plunge .

How many of them had actually used vaporisation? I confidently predict none or very few ...

Is there anyone who posts regularly on here who has used vaporisation saying "No, don't do it!"?

I rest my case m'lud
