Vaping from above / through the crownboard

Have been vaping from the top by lifting the clear crownboard enough to poke my gasvap pipe in, which is over a small eke for fondant feeding. Just wrapped an old towel around the edges to plug the gaps and left the varroa boards underneath. Seems to have worked ok with high-ish drops from two hives and the vapour sinking down between the frames....

As a test (just to see) I lifted the roof/CB off a hive that had an empty brood box (used as feeding fondant slabs) few minutes after injecting 2.5g through the entrance, clouds of vapour poured out the top. In fact I could just about see the blue fondant bag.

Can cover a site of 30 units in less than half an hour and it looks like most of the vapour stays inside the hive.

A thought …. Of maybe using some of this as a buffer to stop leakages when using ekes from above.

One of the jobs for the new year is to make more ekes and reversible cbs.

It's been found that the actual dose above the minimum specified isn't that critical so vapour leaking out can't be such a big deal.
In fact if it's coming out at least it's going in...
