If I complete an autumn apiguard treatment and feed with fondant, do I get any protection against Nosema that a Hivemaker/Manley thymolated syrup would offer?

Additionally, I discovered yet another beekeeper in my village today (1300+ residents, at least 4 beekeepers that I know of, at least my hives are elsewhere) who has a website and they describe using thymol crystals in a jam jar lid placed directly on top of the brood frames http://www.collsbeeshoney.com/useful-tips.html.

Bit harsh and uncontrolled dosage?

Thymol in jar lids is just as effective as apiguard but either won't confer any protection against nosema other than getting rid of another stresser, varroa. Thymol needs to be ingested in syrup to have any beneficial action against varroa as far as I know.

Thanks, did you mean Nosema in your last sentence, rather than Varroa?

After 4 weeks or so of Apiguard treatment I would be surprised if firstly some didn't get into the honey stores and as the bees move the crystals around they don't ingest some?
So perhaps only benefit of thymolated syrup after Apiguard is to prevent fermentation.

If you honextly believe that, carry on - I'll keep on thymolising the syrup
