Looked at their website this afternoon and noticed that they were publicising their "Winter Sale".

No lists or anything like that yet, of course.

BUT, presumably to limit the site-crashing scramble, this year it is due to start at 3 AM. On Saturday 3rd of January …

I wonder if anyone is going to be there to press the Reset button? :)

Yep, never get to bed before 2:00am anyway, more worried that i might get trigger happy and order too much because i might have an extra bevvy waiting for the start

Yes, always a danger, it lubricates the click finger - and can lead to injudicious posting on this forum - I fear I have been close to banishment on occasion in the past.

There's a few of us who HAVE been banned .... sort of badge of dishonour ! Not many recently but it's only just getting a bit wintry so there's time yet ...

Well I just rise above it, you see that's the thing about being mature :sos:

Yes i saw it a few days ago, it dose say this time if you are ordering National gear there is plenty to go round, so no need to stay up all night !

Sounds good to me. To be honest I have never ordered on the first day anyway, so never had a problem with a crashing side and the National gear was never sold out in the past, even if I ordered up to 3 weeks after the Sale start...

I've had an avatar banned, does that count?

I have never been banned, does that mean I am still a virgin!

Does it worth an effort? :) The main purchase of the following year for me is gonna be an extractor. I have only 4 hives at the moment, but I`ll certainly increase their numbers in the following years. I presume the 12 deep langstroth frames radial / 8 deep langstroth frames tangential electric extractor( capable to do both modes) should suffice yet. :) Ready to pay about 1000 euro for such a luxury… Don`t see yet reasonable prices in Thornes… Their descriptions are also not a state of the art IMHO :)

Whatever you buy make sure the extractor will indeed take deep frames. My 9-frame radial model from Thornes won't take National deeps which is sometimes a nuisance. Nonetheless my wife and I both agree it was worth every penny of nuisance and grind saved with a manual job.
Some of the adverts in Beecraft suggest prices cheaper than T's. The spring convention would be a good place to buy - several manufacturers, maybe with show offers

You can get "tangential screens" (accessories specific to the model) so that it can take standard Deep National (DN) frames - 3 at a time, tangentially.

However the Thorne's one simply won't take 14x12's.
But my Park 9-frame radial when fitted with its tangential screens will take 14x12's.
And the electric motor is indeed very worthwhile …

I find this prices are much more attractive than the Thorn`s ones: http://tomaszlyson.co.uk/82-radial-honey-extractors-economical
But they also do not describe their products properly… I.e. I have no idea what does the size Ø900 really mean. How much frames it`s capable to cope with, and whether the tangential mode for dealing with heather and Ivy honey possible or not?

I would buy a SAF radial extractor direct from Italy. Much cheaper. There was a thread about it but I cannot find it.

Thank you for a clue farbee. You probably enter too short words in a searching engine (“SAF” alike). The engines work with words of more than 3 letters, normally. Except the one build in a browser. But this one is only of a help to find a particular word or a phrase on a whole web page, if page is overloaded with great loads of information. In my browser ( FireFox) it`s in a tool bar at the very top, in “editing” department – the “search” option. It`s very useful IMHO. Thanks again.
Here is that thread, I suppose: http://www.beekeepingforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=26592&highlight=SAF+extractor+Italy
