Wind hit here too, no damage to hives but branches down, been out with chain saw all morning, ripped roof off my wood shed! Worried all night that hives would be flat but nope....all ok, phew!

Maybe check your hives after the wind last night.

Called out to 2 of mine that had almost gone over, fortunately tilting but still just held onto stands and kept in place by straps & serious weights.

just a stack of supers moved slightly

it was funny looking at bees trying to land with pollen and completely missing the hive

Next week looks better here into the 20s (unless they change their minds before then).

Sodding BBC - not only couldn't they get the forecast right - it was gusting well over 30 around here: took one of my polytunnels out - and one wheelie bin strayed 150 yards across the neighbouring ploughed field - they couldn't even get their webpage right ...

Is one of the pre-requisites for a job with the Beeb that the applicant must be an incompetent idjut ?

lol, that's funny, giving them a hard time for not being able to predict the future.
maybe they can give us next week's lottery numbers too?

Often their Tv forecast is different then the one on the net.

Two points

1/ There are minor differences (as I have previously noted) between the daily summary and the 'bargraph'.
I think they are actually for slightly different regions. My interpretation is that only the 'bargraph' is computed for the specific postcode used. The daily summary seems likely to be for the post-town region (in your case PE - Peterborough).
These numbers are not typed in (or mistyped) by an army of clerks, they'll come straight from the forecasting computer model.

2/ My understanding is that the windspeed forecast is the average speed, not the peak gust strength. Peak gusts are forecast, but not usually included in the BBC's general forecast.

Lovely day here ,scattered cloud ,hedgerows carpeted with dandelion, bees working like there's no tomorrow ! :D
Chance of a frost this evening :(

But, but ... I'm assuming it's true, because I've heard it often enough, that the Met Office was responsible for choosing the best day for the Normandy Landings. If they could predict the weather so accurately then, why can't they do it now?

They simply couldn't.
The landing craft, floating tanks , etc were engulfed in stormy seas at the Normandy landings.
Sword beach saw saw the death of literally thousands of GIs!

Err It was ONE forecaster who called the gap in the storms for 36 hours. Most others said gales to continue..No computers then.. it was an educated guesstimate... If he had been wrong.. invasion would have failed... (There's a Book What If by Robert Cowley which covers that - and other major events in history and What Ifs them )

Somebody was castigated as a scaremonger saying the cold weather would last till May... it looks like it will take till April 23rd to get above 15C.. and it will be 27th before 20c maybe...

That somebody deserves an apology (and burning at the stake for witchcraft) :)

In a t-shirt sweating here:D

Ok. Might be exaggerating about sweating but the sun is shining without a cloud in the sky. I'm going to swap the modified top bee space brood box and floor later

My uncle was a a young lad on the D Day landings, He never talked about it until later in life, He told me he hated the Americans for dropping his troops a mile off shore and most drowned before they reached the beach and what made it worst he didn't have a decent *** to smoke. Sorry if I offended any Americans bit it was his words not mine a man who was there.
