Sadly the media fuel the public with fake news as they simply don't do their homework and publish any old stock photo of a hornet, instead of researching the insect involved. I think somewhen/somewhere there was also a another story regarding UK hornets and they went off tamngent posted with a scary pic of the Giant Mandarin hornet which had no relevance what so ever.
