On a serious note Phil can you point out the beginners who been offended or belittled in this thread about Blenheim bees.
I think most people did. It does take practice and time to communicate fluently in another language, its a gradual process.I think the term is ‘Ageist’, there’s no such term as age racism, but I understood what Finman meant with English not being HIS first language.

Here is some basic Finnish for you.
I was more replying to philh1503, whose correction of Finmans translation was simply not correct. I didn’t think there was a need to even correct Finman’s grammar (in a second language) in the first place IMO,I think most people did. In the UK the term would be Ageism (a discrimination against one’s future self ), racism would only be used in a context of discrimination based on race. it was clear to most what you meant anyway, I just didn’t think it was necessary for the obvious correction of your very good English albeit a second language (or more). We have such term in Finland, like age rasism.

Yes I realised. I have never really found any of Finmans' posts difficult to understand. I have noticed a tendency for some to be deliberately obtuse when it comes to non native speakers. My spouse and I have been together for over 35 years (good grief) and from time to time we encounter an individual who chooses not to understand spoken english until I as a native speaker say the exact same phrase/words. The first occasion was simply over the word 'mayonnaise' to a waiter in a restaurant, how many ways can you say it so another fails to understand?I was more replying to philh1503, whose correction of Finmans translation was simply not correct. Please say it was a French restaurantsimply over the word 'mayonnaise' to a waiter in a restaurant
Sadly not. Please say it was a French restaurant
They are used in large quantities in Sweden, so not expensive, very sharp and also the classic style without guard is not for the beginner. Mora knifeMy Brother brought me one back when he worked in Sweden.
It was the best knife I ever had. I used it regularly particularly on the allotment. Then one day I could not find it and I have not seen it since. I really miss it as the blade had the most superb edge and could be easily honed.
Tis why I ignore him- bends my brain too much at my age!!Interesting. I've always felt that it must take quite a strong grasp of written English to make some of his 'odd' posts over past years!
I’d didn’t really think any had been, rather wondered why he kept bringing it up.I don’t think they have
This is not in the beginners section
It’s just JBM and Finnie throwing bangers at each other
vicarious offence taking - it's the new National sportI’d didn’t really think any had been, rather wondered why he kept bringing it up.
